Born in Dallas, Texas, Janie moved to Michigan in 1985. Over the past 20 years, Janie has lived in Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. She currently lives in southwest Michigan and frequently travels to Texas.

Janie writes and illustrates
picture books for young children. She uses various materials and techniques to create lovable characters and memorable children’s art. Janie draws and paints both digitally and traditionally—usually combining both methods. She loves to travel, read, draw, paint, write, and cook meals for friends and family.

Janie graduated with a BFA in graphic design and a minor in literature from the University of North Texas. Over the years she developed her painting and illustration skills by attending classes at local universities, including two children’s book illustration classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Meet Janie’s new friend, Oliver! Oliver found his way to Michigan from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! No, he didn't walk all that way, but some nice people from a rescue group in Cabo sent him on an airplane to a wonderful rescue group in southwest Michigan to find a home here. Oliver now lives with Janie in her home in Kalamazoo.
